Easy and Delicious Healthy Indomie

Plain old indomie is quite boring and unhealthy. Learn how to make a healthy version!

Indomie noodles is a staple meal in many Nigerian homes but it can be unhealthy when prepared the wrong way.  This is because one single pack of noodles contains over 300 calories and no significant nutritional value.

Most people eat 2 regular packs which is almost 700 calories, up to half of your daily caloric intake, with most of it being empty calories without good nutrients.

Therefore, it is no secret that if you eat Indomie regularly you can easily put on unwanted weight. One should always remember portion control.

However, if you can prepare your noodles,  like I have in this recipe, you can be assured that you are eating something more healthy and nutritious.

This is because this recipe uses only 1 pack of noodles and lots of vegetables and protein to balance out the carbohydrates.

You will need;

  • 1 regular pack of noodles

  • 1 tbsp stew

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 can sardine

  • Oil drained from sardine

  • 1 tsp ginger and garlic paste

  • A dash of salt

  • 1 small green pepper (sliced)

  • 1/2 red bell pepper (sliced)

  • 1 small carrot(sliced)

  • 1/2 onion (sliced)

  • A dash of Cameroon pepper

  1. Bring some water to a boil and cook your noodles till slightly softened but still very stretchy. This will take about 3-4 minutes on high heat. Once the noodles are semi cooked, drain out the hot water and drizzle on a bit of oil to the noodles or spray with non stick oil and set aside.

  2. On high heat, In a frying pan, add the oil drained from the sardine, add 1/2 the amount, I realized this too late.

  3. Add the ginger and garlic paste and fry for about one minute storing regularly. Add the tomato stew and keep frying for another minute.

  4. Add all the sliced vegetable and season with some salt and cook for about 2 more minutes.

  5. Add the sardines.

  6. Season with Cameroon pepper and soy sauce.

  7. Add the cooked noodles you drained earlier and set aside.

  8. Combine all ingredients well and cook for 1 minute or so to let all the flavors combine.

  9. Your noodles is ready to serve!

Total time: 10 minutes
